In my previous post, I blogged about selecting the right keyword for my niche “basketball”. As I was checking my web stat for my blog yesterday, I noticed the post was already indexed in the google search engine. The post can be found on the first page of Google’s search engine.
How did I managed to get the post indexed so fast in the search engines? The trick is to have your site linked to a high traffic site. In my case, I had my blog linked on Digital Point (Alexa ring at 149) where search engine bots crawl on the site frequently.
Post links to your site in your signature on Digital Point and you will notice your pages will be indexed in the search engines in less than a day.

When it comes to selecting the keywords for a niche, I like to use Aaron Wall’s Keyword Suggestion tool to give me a hand. The tool will give me suggestions on the popular keyword phrases on a keyword and will tell me an estimate of how many times each keyword phrases are being searched in each month.
To give you an idea how to use the tool, let’s take a niche on my favorite sport, “Basketball”. I want to build a website around basketball but I need to focus on a specific topic to get better placement in the search engines. As I type in “Basketball”, the keyword suggestion tool gave me these suggestions:
| basketball |
471,706 |
| fantasy basketball |
437,138 |
| ncaa basketball |
175,280 |
| basketball ticket |
106,228 |
| basketball schedule |
67,260 |
| college basketball |
58,710 |
| basketball camp |
39,564 |
| youth basketball |
39,034 |
| basketball shoes |
37,722 |
| basketball drill |
34,768 |
| high school basketball |
34,616 |
As you can see, the word “Basketball” was searched in major search engines about 471, 406 times in a month. As I would love to select “Basketball” as my keyword term for my site, I know Iwould have no chance in placing in the top spot for the term. There are way too many competition for the term.
What you should try to do is try to find a keyword phrase that has a good number of searches in a month with fewer competition, and you should build your site on that term.
So I’ve decided to go with the keyword phrase ”Basketball Shoes, It has a decent amount of monthly searches and also has fewe competition than the term ”basketball”. When I buy a domain, I like to have the term “basketball shoes” in the domain, preferbably a dot com domain. The reason is that it can help me place higher in search engines when the term “basketball shoes” is being searched.

Just a reminder to all of you web entrepreneurs, we have 15 more days to do some good quality backlinkings! Google will do the Page Ranking update at the end of the month or early august.
My goal for this blog after the update, is hopefully to increase my PR from 1 to 4. Increasing my PR to 4 will definitely give me better placement in the search engines and therefore increasing more traffic to my site through SE.

Many new web entrepreneurs get into the making money online business thinking they can make millions like other experienced web entrepreneurs are doing. But they don’t realize making money online can be really tough especially at the beginning stages. Here are a list of reasons why new web entrepreneurs will fail.
1. Commitment and Laziness- Working on your own hours especially from home is the hardest job to commit to. Most new web entrepreneurs will be committed the first week and then after that they will start losing their desire to work online.
2. Giving up too easily - Many new web entrepreneurs will give up the first week when they don’t see money coming in. They do not realize that some websites won’t even make money their first year.
3. Setting unrealistic goals- Newcommers will set unrealistic goals to make millions in their year. And when their goals are not achieved, their desire will be lost.
4. Distractions and getting side track- Having distractions from the outside world is a key to failures. Losing your focus can put your web projects on hold for days or even years. Have a list of daily tasks of what you should be working on each day.
5. Too many tasks at once- This is one main reasons I failed in my early days. I tried to take on too many tasks that I can handle. Take one idea, work around it and once you have succeed on it, start on another.
6. Lack of Knowledge - Most will fail because they have little knowledge of making money online. They don’t realize that there are forums (digital point) or information are out there that will help them gain more sense on making money online.
7. Taking the easy out - There is no easy way to make money online. It take a lot of time and hard work.
There are a lot more reasons why new web entrepreneur fail making money online but the ones I mentioned above are from my past experience. I hope blogging about my mistakes will prevent you from making the same mistakes as I did.
